Vic: Doyle quietly confident of toppling Napthine
A Victorian liberal party insider says dumped opposition frontbencher ROBERT DOYLEis quietly confident he has the numbers to topple leader DENIS NAPTHINE.
Mr DOYLE was sacked as Opposition health spokesman last week after failing to givefull support to Dr NAPTHINE.
He will challenge the leadership at a party room meeting tomorrow.
The source says more MPs have come over to Mr DOYLE during the weekend and the voteis going to be close, with comments by former Premier JEFF KENNETT on his radio programon Thursday helping tip the balance toward Mr DOYLE.
Mr KENNETT called on Mr DOYLE to resign, saying he had always put his ambition aheadof his commitment to the party.
Dr NAPTHINE has languished in the opinion polls but says there is no chance he'll losethe leadership.
