So now there are five people running in what's still a rather low-profile campaign for mayor of Albany. Alice Green, one of the city's most prominent civil rights activists, got into the race the other day - and without leaving her house on West Lawrence Street. Instead she sat at her kitchen table and talked in her typically articulate fashion about poverty, crime and race.
It was a good beginning. Only political campaigns aren't really about beginnings. They're inevitably and understandably about attracting followers, generating excitement and ultimately winning votes. Already Ms. Green is making qualifying statements about her candidacy and how it can be successful …
