Qld; Highway cleared after accident that left four injured

A three car smash has left four people in hospital and briefly closed a motorway on
the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane today.

Senior Constable STEVE KNIGHT of Nambour police says a woman was driving west on the
Sunshine Motorway but failed to notice other traffic had slowed ahead of her.

She swerved sharply into oncoming traffic in the east-bound lanes.

The Honda Civic she was driving swiped a second car before colliding head-on with a
Honda Prelude.

The woman suffered only minor injuries but her 15-year-old female passenger had to
be cut from the wreck.

Also a man a woman in the Prelude suffered fractures.

All four were taken to Nambour General Hospital but their injuries are not believed
to be serious.

The accident at 10.30am AEST closed the Sunshine Motorway and traffic was diverted
via Buderim and Mooloolaba until after 12pm when the road reopened.
